The aim of project study was to provide new anthropometric data of the Swedish workforce for design of chairs, workplaces and other equipment. Earlier studies of body dimensions are more than 30 years old and data needed to be revised. Subjects in Lund and Malmö were scanned in standing and sitting, and 262 women and 105 men were included in our analysis.
Comparing new anthropometric data with old, several measurements were significantly different. The study demonstrated thet many body measures as well as weight have increased while the Swedish anthropometric homogeneity has decreased. The study was carried out together with researchers in ergonomics and physical therapy and financially supported by the AFA insurance foundation.
